Termite Control – Organically!

Many environmentally conscious people are looking for natural, organic means of termite control. If you are one of these people, then we have some suggestions you could try to eliminate termites without using toxic chemicals.
Termites are known for their insatiable thirst for food.  They eat 24 hours a day, everyday of the year.  The most effective termite killer will be one that eliminates their food source. To do that you need to keep the area around the foundation of your home dry. Keep the mulch in your flower beds at least 6 inches away from the base of your house. Inspect and repair any structural wood around your home that is susceptible to water damage.  Seal up small cracks which would allow termites to enter.
Another method of eliminating termites is to attract them away from your home. Take a cardboard box and water it down.  Place the cardboard box near you home and monitor it for termites. Termites love to feed on dampened soft wood like cardboard. If you have an infestation, they will be attracted to the cardboard and leave your house.  Destroy the infested cardboard and start over with fresh cardboard.  This method takes time and is not a quick fix, but eventually you should be able to get the termites somewhat under control.
In addition to these methods, Parsons Pest Control offers some organic termite killers that usually work by putting the termite killer around the foundation of your home and changing it out frequently. Natures Defender Termicide Agent Gold is one example of this type of product.
